Native plants in Blue Heron Park

Someone at Blue Heron park cares about native flora or at least hummingbird plants. It’s the only place in Staten Island where I’ve seen coral honeysuckle and beebalm (two great hummingbird plants) growing. It appears to be planted deliberately, right by the entrance. coralhoneysuckle

Unfortunately there’s quite a few Lythrum salicaria aka purple loosestrife planted too. Although pretty, it’s an invasive in much of the eastern half of the country’s wetlands.

The neighbor down the street grows a lovely yellow campsis radicans:
